The 2012 Olympics haven’t just come to London,  they also visited the lovely county of Surrey in the shape of the cycle road race at the weekend, where we saw Alexandr Vinokurov of Kazakhstan take the gold medal on the Saturday and Marianne Vos  of The Netherlands take gold on the Sunday. Not to forget our very own Elizabeth Armitstead, who picked up a silver medal in the women’s cycle road race.

Crowds turned out in there thousands to support team GB and Surrey was filled with excitement and anticipation as the race soared through.  Grosvenor Billinghurst, you local team GB, even managed to make it on the television with our boards making a little appearance.  Whilst we congratulate the winners at the weekend, lets hope for a couple of gold medals for Team Great Britain tomorrow at the time trials.  I’m sure everyone will be out in force to support our athletes.
