We have a new look

Gareth Davies, Managing Director at Grosvenor

After two decades as Grosvenor Billinghurst, we’re now simply Grosvenor – a refresh that coincides with the second generation of the Davies family taking over the business. Here, our Managing Director Gareth Davies explains the reasons behind the rebrand and outlines what Elmbridge homeowners can expect from the family-run firm in its third decade.

You haven’t just changed the name, but given the whole business a new identity. What was behind the decision?

In 2021 my sister Claire and I took over the business, which my father founded in 2002. Whilst the brand had always been a big part of our lives, we weren’t completely satisfied with it. We also felt that it didn’t quite support our overall vision for the future. Grosvenor Billinghurst had evolved during my father’s ownership. As new owners, we wanted to modernise and evolve it in line with ours. The timing just felt right.

What kickstarted the process?

Originally, we were looking to create a standalone brand that catered for the prime property market. However, after several meetings, workshops and focus groups, we came to the conclusion that we wanted to elevate the entire brand and provide a more aspirational identity to all of our clients. We feel that the new brand communicates this in a much more effective way.

How long did it take?

Initial discussions began in September 2022, so nine months. It’s a lot more involved than just colours and logos.

Why drop Billinghurst from your name?

Billinghurst was a legacy name that we had inherited when we bought a business called Billinghurst, Higby and Chard. Now, in 2023 - and our third decade – we felt that it didn’t really hold much significance locally. As a name, Grosvenor Billinghurst was quite long, too! This process provided the perfect opportunity to create a stronger brand.

Aside from the new look and feel, what other changes have you made?

At our core, we’re still independent property advisers that know the local area better than anyone. This, backed by our family values, means that the service we provide is not only exemplary, but also very personal, too. We’re committed to building a business that the very best property professionals want to work at so we’re currently making progressive cultural change. This includes the introduction of the nine-day fortnight, which not only provides our team with a better work-life balance, but also means that our customers can walk into our offices on a Saturday and have the same level of service that they would expect Monday to Friday.

What does the next 12 months look like for Grosvenor?

Aside from continuing to support homeowners across Elmbridge with a clean, crisp and modern brand that we feel better reflects our clientele, we plan to continue growing the business from our three existing locations in Cobham, Claygate and Hinchley Wood, with sights set on further expansion over the next year or two.
